We’re glad to announce the official release of AlterNET Studio 10.0. This major update brings cross-platform support for Code Editor and C#/Visual Basic/Python scripting and debugging, as well as support for .NET 9 across all our component libraries.
- Please note that cross-platform libraries are released the first time as a beta version. We plan to mark it as production-ready in the subsequent minor update.
Key Highlights of AlterNET Studio 10.0:
Code Editor works on macOS, Linux, iOS and Android devices
We have two cross-platform implementation of Code Editor:
- A version built with our proprietary AlterNET UI library, designed for macOS and Linux desktop developers.
- A MAUI-based implementation, enabling the use of Code Editor on iOS and Android devices.
C#, Visual Basic and Python scripters and debuggers are cross-platform compatible
Most of our non-visual components—such as parsers and scripting engines—now target .NET Standard 2.0, making them compatible with macOS and Linux. Additionally, we’ve developed a debugger UI using both AlterNET UI and MAUI, enabling developers to integrate debugging functionality into their cross-platform applications.
.NET 9 support
All of our core libraries and NuGet packages now fully support .NET 9.0, giving you access to the latest features, performance enhancements, and development tools. We also maintain support for .NET Framework 4.6.2 and later versions to ensure ongoing compatibility with existing projects.
You can find a complete list of our core libraries on the download page.
Code Editor improvements
The Code Editor now offers support for PowerFX parser for Microsoft Power Fx formula editing and evaluation.
Code Editor has been upgraded to use the latest version 4.14 of the Microsoft Code Analysis API (Roslyn), ensuring compatibility with the latest language features.
Scripter and Form Designer improvements
Scripter now supports running and debugging MAUI projects, as well as referencing NuGet packages within script projects.
Form Designer now offers in-memory mode, allowing you to load and save forms from alternative data sources—not just files on disk.
New Product and Subscription Tiers
The AlterNET Studio Universal Edition now includes cross-platform libraries and will be priced higher than the current version.
We’ve also introduced a new AlterNET Studio Windows Edition, which includes support for WinForms and WPF platforms, along with access to source code. In addition, we’ve launched new subscription tiers for both platform-specific editions and the Universal Edition. Subscription pricing has been updated to align with industry standards.
Current Universal Edition customers will be upgraded to the highest subscription tier. However, they have the option to switch to the Windows Edition by selecting the appropriate AlterNET Studio subscription tier.
